Industrial Hearing Tests in Yorkshire
Any employer with workers exposed to noise at or above 85 dB(A) must provide hearing health surveillance under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. In Yorkshire, this commonly applies to steel production and forging, metalworking and fabrication, glass manufacturing, food processing, and advanced manufacturing. HSE’s 2024/25 campaign found that 95% of employers had not verified whether their PPE actually worked. East Riding Sacks in East Yorkshire was fined £533,000 in 2024 for COSHH failures, showing HSE’s active presence in the region.
