1.6 Maintenance and Use of Equipment (Regulation 8)

Primary Legislation

  • Ensure anything provided under the regulations (except hearing protection provided under Regulation 7(1)) is fully and properly used
  • Ensure anything provided is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order, and in good repair
  • Make full and proper use of personal hearing protectors provided under Regulation 7(2) and any other control measures
  • Report any defect in hearing protectors or control measures to the employer as soon as practicable
  • Ensure anything provided under the regulations (except hearing protection provided under Regulation 7(1)) is fully and properly used

  • Ensure anything provided is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order, and in good repair

  • Make full and proper use of personal hearing protectors provided under Regulation 7(2) and any other control measures

  • Report any defect in hearing protectors or control measures to the employer as soon as practicable

Why it matters for fit testing: "Full and proper use" includes correct fitting. Fit testing trains workers in proper fitting technique and verifies they can achieve it.
